Answer:

(a) 27/4 kg

(b) 17/4 kg

Step-by-step explanation:

(a)

To find the total weight we will add their Individual weights

11/2 + 5/4

= (11×2)/(2×2) + 5/4

= 22/4 + 5/4

= 27/4 kg

(b)

To find out how much heavier the pineapple is we will subtract their weights

11/2 - 5/4

= (11×2)/(2×2) - 5/4

= 22/4 - 5/4

= 17/4 kg

Hope this helps you.

➣ AnSwer :-

(a) Find the total weight of these fruits.

 \longrightarrow \sf \: \frac{11}{2} + \frac{5}{4} \\

LCM of 2 and 4 is 4.

 \longrightarrow \sf \: \frac{11 \times 2}{2 \times 2} + \frac{5}{4} \\

 \longrightarrow \sf \: \frac{22}{4} + \frac{5}{4} = \frac{22 + 5}{4} \\

 \longrightarrow \sf \: \frac{27}{4} \\

Therefore, the total weight of the fruits is \sf\frac{27}{4} kg.

(b) How much heavier is the pineapple than the pear.

 \longrightarrow \sf \: \frac{11}{2} - \frac{5} {4} \\

LCM of 2 and 4 is 4.

 \longrightarrow \sf \: \frac{11 \times 2}{2 \times 2} - \frac{5}{4} \\

 \longrightarrow \sf \: \frac{22}{4} - \frac{5}{4} = \frac{22 - 5}{4} \\

 \longrightarrow \sf \: \frac{17}{4} \\

The pineapple is \sf\frac{17}{4} kg \\ more than pear.
