Pinky paid Rs. 150/- for her small purse.

When an item or a product is purchased or bought the amount which was used for the purchase is called as the price of the product often known as the M.R.P or the fixed price of the product.

Each item will consist of a price which is the original price of the product before any discount is applied or before it is put to sale.

Here, the item that was purchased was a purse whose net amount is not known. It is the price that is to be found.

Let the price of the purse be Rs. x.

There is another product which has been mentioned which is a fan in the same shop whose price is known. The price of the fan is given to be Rs. 200.

The price of the purse is compared with the price of the fan. It is given that if Pinky spends 50 rupees more than the amount spent on the purse she can buy a fan of Rs. 200.

This means that the price of the fan is equivalent to 50 rupees more than that of the price which Pinky spent on the purse.

Thus, from the above statement a mathematical equation can be formed:

200=x+50

\implies x=200-50

\implies x=Rs\;150

Here, x was taken to be the amount spent on the purse. Thus, the amount spent on the small purse is Rs. 150.
