Pipe A can fill a tank in 8 hours. On account of a leak at the bottom of the tank it takes thrice as long to fill the
tank. How long will the leaks at the bottom of the tank take to empty a full tank, when pipe A is kept closed?​

On account of the leak it takes 3 * 8 = 24 hours to fill the tank.

Hence, 1/x of the tank gets emptied every hour.

1/8 - 1/x = 1/24

=> 1/x = 1/8 - 1/24 = 3 - 1/24 = 2/24 = 1/12

Thus the leak takes 12 hours to empty the full tank.
