PipeA can fill a tank in 5 hours and pipe B in 10 hours both the pipes are opened together and after 2 hours pipe A is closed how much time will be taken by pipe B to fill the remaining tank?

One pipe can fill the tank in ‘x’min&other can empty it in (x+5)min
Let the volume of tank be’ V’.
•Therefore,Volume of water filled by one pipe in x min=V
•Volume of water filled by pipe in 1 min=V/x
Also,
•Volume of outflow of water by another pipe in (x+5)min=V
•Volume of outflow of water by another pipe in 1 min=V/(x+5).
•Volume of water filled in tank for 1 min=
(V/x)-(V/x+5).
Also given,both together can fill the empty tank in 16.8min.

On solving above equation,we get x=7
