Answer

This is a poem set in a meadow where 3 kids pretend to be pirates and sailing the sea. The kids debate if their first adventure should take place in Africa, Providence or Babylon or even Malabar. Before they decide where to travel they spot a squadron and the pirates decide to try and escape them.

This poem had a lot of elements I expected to see including rhyming e.g swing, spring and metaphors e.g waves are on the meadow. I expected the story to be about pirates as of the title but I didn't expect the poem to be a complete metaphor of kids playing in the meadow and using the things around them. I thought it was unique how the poet wrote the poem and how detailed it was for the amount of text it was. The poet also described the setting very well as I had a vivid image of where the story was set as he used a lot of adjectives. This poem is an adventure poem because the book is about kids pretending to go on an adventure as pirates and planning to go to many places when they escape squadrons in the sea.
