Piston A and Piston B are both attached to different points of a container filled with
water. Piston A has a diameter of 0.0064 m. Piston B has a diameter of 0.038 m.
Determine the force necessary on Piston A to support a 500 N weight on Piston B.​

Given</p><p></p><p>Force applied to the smaller piston A=4 kg</p><p></p><p>Area of cross section of piston A=8 cm2</p><p></p><p>Area of cross section of piston B=320 cm2</p><p></p><p>(i) Pressure acting on piston A in the downwar direction=AreaThrust</p><p></p><p>=84=0.5 kg/cm2</p><p></p><p>∴ Pressure acting on piston A=0.5 kg/cm2</p><p></p><p>(ii) according to pascal's law</p><p></p><p>Pressure acting on piston A= Pressure acting on piston B=0.5 kg/cm2</p><p></p><p>(iii) Thrust acting on piston B in the upward direction=Presuure×Area ofB</p><p></p><p>=4×832=160 kg</p><p></p><p>∴ Thrust acting on piston B in the upward direction=160 kg</p><p></p><p>
