Volume of earth taken out = 98 m^3

length of pit = 7m

width = 3.5m

depth = h

volume = length × width × depth

=> 98 = 7 × 3.5 × h

=> h = 98 / (7×3.5)

=> h = 4 m

depth of pit is 4m
