Pituitary is called master of gland. Explain your answer.

The pituitary gland is known as master gland because it produces hormones which regulate the secretion of other hormones from different glands and other activities.

For instance, adrenocorticotropic hormone, which stimulates the adrenal glands to secrete steroid hormones, principally cortisol. Growth hormone, regulates growth, metabolism and body composition.
