Answer: When an iron nail is immersed in the solution of copper sulphate then iron displaces copper from the solution of copper sulphate because iron is more reactive than copper. Therefore copper sulphate solution colour changes from blue to pale green.

A displacement reaction takes place when an iron nail is immersed in the solution of copper sulphate. Copper sulphate changes its colour because iron, being more reactive, replaces copper in the solution forming iron sulphate solution and the copper gets deposited on the iron nail making the solution from blue to green in colour.
