Answer: 60 kilometre per hour and 40 kilometre per hour

Step-by-step explanation:

Equation formed is 5 x minus 5 y is equal to hundred and X + y is equal to hundred by solving this equations we get x is equal to 60 km per hour and y is equal to 40 kilometre per hour

Answer:

Given:

Place A and B are 100km apart on a highway. One car starts from A and another from B at the same time. If the car travel in the same direction at different speeds, the meet in 5 hours.

To find:

If they travel towards each other, they meet in 1 hour. What are the speeds of the two cats?

Solution:

Let the speed of A be x and B be y kmph

X – y = 100 / 5

X – y = 20 ..(1)

X + y = 100 … (2)

Solving equation (1) and (2),

we get,

2x = 120

therefore, x = 60.

then substitute the value of x in (1).

X – y = 20 ..(1)

60 - y = 20

y = 40.

Therefore, the value of y is  40.

x = 60 and y = 40

The speeds of the two cats are x  and y are 60 and 40 km per hour.

hope it helps you.....
