Explanation:

Lord Wellesley signed the treaty known as subsidiary alliance. Its main rule was that when a ruler lost the battle against British then he has to sign this treaty. And when a ruler Don't have his own natural hier,then also.

by this British got the right of trade in India they first started this in Bengal. when the nawab was sirajhuddaullah. He first allowed then after some time he realized so he started opposing the British East India Company. By this leads to the battle of plassey in 1757.

so After this British started follow this Divide and rule policy in India.

He forced many native states to sign the treaty. like Bengal,Allahbad,Hyderabad etc..
