The military forces of the East India Company were divided into 3 presidency armies – each in Bombay, Bengal, and Madras.
In May 1857, the cavalry troops first attacked Meerut and then proceeded towards Delhi.
In June 1857, the attack was on Lucknow which went on till November 1857.
In July 1857, the forces attacked Delhi till August 1857, and Kanpur was also attacked.
