Answer:
What Is a Plant Cell?
Plant cells are eukaryotic cells that make their own food through photosynthesis. The plant cell definition also includes important organelles that are unique to plant cells, such as a large, central vacuole and a cell wall made of cellulose. Plant cells are eukaryotic due to the presence of a nucleus and membrane bound organelles. Examples of plant cells include different specialized cells, such as parenchyma, sclerenchyma and collenchyma cells.
Plant Cell Organelles:-
Organelles are compartments within cells that do specific jobs. Plant cell organelles are specialized for organisms in the plant kingdom, such as multicellular, stationary, and eukaryotic organisms that can make their own food. Plant cell organelles are specialized to help maintain structure, such as the water containing vacuole and the rigid cell wall made of cellulose. The chloroplasts in the plant cell are organelles that contain chlorophyll and allow plant cells to do photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is the process that cells use to make their own food using the energy from the sun.
Chloroplast:-
Chloroplasts are the organelle that plants cells use to make food. Chloroplasts contain the pigment chlorophyll, which allows them to capture energy from the sun. This fuels the process of converting carbon dioxide and water into glucose and oxygen. Chloroplasts are shaped like small spheres and contain a double membrane. Inside, there are small stacks called grana that contain the thylakoids. The thylakoid membrane is where chlorophyll is contained and the reason plant cells are green.
Cell Wall:-
The cell wall in plant cells is a rigid barrier that helps give the plant its shape and provide turgor pressure, even when water is scarce. The cell wall in plants is made of cellulose, which distinguishes it from the cell wall in other cell types. Fungi cells have a cell wall made of chitin, and bacteria have a cell wall made of peptidoglycan. Some cells, such as collenchyma cells, have a thickened cell wall that provides additional support for the plant.
Vacuole:-
The vacuole is a large, central organelle that stores water and some salts for plants. The main role of the vacuole is to maintain the turgor pressure of the plant cell and give it structure.
