plant cells have a cell wall along with the cell membrane, whereas animal do not. Why?

Answer:

The main function of cell wall is to protect the plant cell as from high wind velocity, temperature changes etc. as plants cannot move and protect themselves unlike animals. Since animals can move and protect themselves they don't need a cell wall.
