they do not have to move like animals do..hence their metabolism is slow as compared to animals.

other reasons.. they do not talk, they do not have brains,.. etc. so energy consumption is low as compared to animals.

Answer:I wouldn't say that plants have low energy needs. Rather, they are excellent in converting the sun's kinetic energy into potential energy. Think about how much energy is released when dried wood from a tree is burned. Similarly, think about how our bodies derive energy from certain plants (grains, fruit and roots like carrots); vegans get all their energy from such plants. If plants truly had “low energy needs,” then we wouldn't be able to use them as significant sources of food and fuel.
