In an ecosystem,
Plants or algae are typically producers (Autotrophs). Usually, plants do not eat other organisms.
But, pull nutrients from the soil or the ocean and manufacture i.e. make their own food. By using the process of photosynthesis in presence of sunlight.
For this reason, Plants are called 'Primary Consumers'.
