1) Yes, I do agree partially with this statement. Plants photosynthesize during day time only. Dark reaction takes place during night time and respire during the day time as well as night time also.

2) During day time when photosynthesis occurs, oxygen is produced. The leaves use some of this oxygen for respiration and the rest diffuses into air.

3) During day time C02 produced by respiration is all used up in photosynthesis by leaves but rate of respiration is slow.

4) At night time no photosynthesis occurs and oxygen diffuses into leaves to carryout respiration and during night dark reaction takes place 02 releases. But rate of photosynthesis is slow during night.

Plants carry out respiration all the time because respiration creates energy and that is necessary to keep the cell alive.

Now Photosynthesis, it happens only during day. The essential things that are needed for the chemical reaction of Photosynthesis is Water, CO2 and Sunlight. Sunlight has Photon. This continuous input of Photon is necessary for the reaction between CO2 and Water to happen.
