Plasmolysis is the loss of water from the cell of the plant from the region of higher concentration to the lower concentration.

It takes place in hypertonic solution, which means the solution contains lower concentration of water and higher concentration of other substances as compared to cell.

The swelling of resins and shrinking of resins is a result of plasmolysis.

This occurs due to osmosis. The phenomenon of movement of water from region of higher concentration to region of lower concentration is known as osmosis.

Shrinkage of cytoplasm in hypertonic medium is generally defined as Plasmolysis in a plant cell.

In this process the plant cell lose the water.

When a cell put into a liquid so that it in concentrated hypertonic solution then after that water spread widely in all directions by the process of osmosis.

This is happen because there is a lower concentration of water outside the cell.

Plasmolysis can be conveniently demonstrated in plant cells under microscope containing blue or red coloured cell sap.

Shrinking of cell membrane in hypertonic solution is generally known as plasmolysis.

Plasmolysis only occurs in extreme conditions and happens in nature
