CaSo4.1/2H2O is known as the formula of POP if we remove water of crystallization  then it is known as gypsum.

the formula of plaster of paris is ...

CaSO4 .1/2 H2O.----------------------------------

on heating of gypsum AT 373K it looses water molecule s partially to become calicium sulphate hemihydrate(
CaSO4 .1/2 H2O.).this is called plaster of paris .
