Plaster of Paris is calcium sulphate hemihydrate. When Plaster of Paris kept in the presence of moisture, it absorbs the water molecule and forms a hard substance called gypsum. This will make the Plaster of Paris useless. That is why it is always stored in a moisture-proof container
