In a debate there are to sides of the motion you will either be required to second(support) the motion or to oppose the motion. It all depends with your preference. I am going to assume you support the motion and that plastic should be ban:

These are these facts that you can give during the debate to second the motion:

1. Plastic has really affected the ecology of the ocean e.g by causing death of fish and also polution. The ocean is responsible for providing sustenance to millions of people. Banning plastic will provide a good ecology of the ocean.

2. Plastic causes a lot of environmental pollution like in rivers and streams therefore banning plastic will reduce environmental pollution by encouraging a clean environment.

3. The frequent burning of plastic usually releases harmful gases and it also destroys the fertility of the soil. By banning plastic we will reduce soil pollution, air pollution and also water pollution.

4. Plastics have harmed animals because animals eat plastic which block their digestive tract in some cases causing death.

5. Plastic is not biodegradable(doesn't decompose) meaning it forever stays in the landfills causing an ever increasing waste level.

These are some of the reasons why plastic should be banned. You can use these reasons to support the motion of banning plastic.

Plastic has been one of the major discovery of the mankind. It helped us in many ways. But plastic has various side effects too. Plastic cannot be easily decomposed by the microorganisms of the soil hence it remains in the surface of the soil for a long period of time. Hence plastic should be banned. It has contributed to water pollution by clogging up the heads of the water bodies and so it should be banned.
