Plastics are non-corrosive in nature. For instance, take a plastic cup and bury it under soil. Dig the soil out after 1 month, what do you observe? You see that the plastic cup is there in its form. But if you repeat the same experiment with a paper cup, after 1 month you will see that it has started decomposing.

Plastics are made up of chemicals which give them the durability. They are usually made of synthetic, derived from Petrochemicals.
