The plastids present in plant roots are known as 'Leucoplasts'. These store starch, lipids and other necessary materials in them which gives them the white colour they have. These plastids can't take part in photosynthesis due to absence of chlorophyll in it. Their main job is absorbing/storing the material they want to absorb.
