It makes the plains Fertile.

Fertile lands attracts human settlements.

Where as plateaus are mostly formed by the erosion of Mountains.

Therefore plains are Fertile and are densely populated than plateaus.

Plains are formed by alluvial soil thus supporting agriculture which forms the backbone of our country helping in providing employment opportunities.
