Hi.. Frnd..

I t is now widely accepted that platelets play an important role in the primary arrest of bleeding by forming aggregates at sites of vascular injury, They also participate in the clotting mechanism by providing one or more activities that are generally referred to as platelet factor 3 (PF-3). At present, one cannot evaluate directly the various aspects of platelet function that contribute to the primary arrest of bleeding. Therefore, platelet function is assessed indirectly by in vitro tests, such as those that measure platelet retention

Hope it help!!!

functions \: of \\ platelets

When a blood vessel is cut, usually we fine blood escape from it but soon after sometimes clot is formed on the wound hence the flow of blood stops...This happens due to present of platelets in our blood.

If there might be no clotting the bleeding might not stop and a person may die also..

Clotting occurs in series:-

  1. The injured tissue cells and platelets which disintegrate at the site of the would releases a substance called thrombokinase.
  2. These thromobokinase acts as an enzyme and with the help of the calcium ions present in plasma ,it converts a substance prothrombin .Vitamin k is a fat-soluble vitamin,is essential for the production of prothrombin.
  3. Thrombin in the presence of Calcium ions, reacts with the soluble fibrinogen of the plasma to convert it into insoluble fibrin.Fibrin is a solid substance that forms thread.
  4. Blood cells are trapped in the network of fibrin, the network then shrinks and squeeze out the rest of the plasma which is in the form of clean liquid, the serum.(The solid mass which is left behind is called clot).

hope its helpful❣️❣️
