Here , we are finding the length of tangent

l = √d² - r²

Here,

• l → length of tangent = ?
• d → distance b/w point P & centre. = 5.5cm
• r → radius of circle = 3cm

Substituting we have

➙ l = √(5.5)² - 3²

➙ l = √30.25 - 9

➙ l = √21.25

➙ length of tangent = 4.609 cm

Let the ratio 3 : 4 be a part of x

Here , also given that the total length is 8cm

Now ,

➵ 3x + 4x = 8cm

➵ 7x = 8cm

➵ x = 8/7 cm

Now , finding length of each part

• 4x = 4(8/7) = 4.57 cm

• 3x = 3(8/7) = 3.42 cm

Hence , length of each part is 4.57 cm & 3.42 cm
