The answer is Dams

It is because dams are built across a water body as

• it allows only that much flow water which is required and would not be the cause of flood
• to generate electricity from the flowing water. It is done by making the turbines move with the help of water flow and this mechanical energy is later converted into electrical energy
• it also helps the fishermen of that area to earn their living as it stops the fishes to pass through the dam

But now a days construction of dam is prohibited by the government because of it's disadvantages like

• it prevents the movement of silt (small particles of sand) through that place
• it disturbs the lifecycle of fishes and other aquatic animals
• come of the aquatic animals die within the tturbines and etc.

due to all these things the nature has been hampered. Thus the government doesn't support all these plans
