yashbisht28: tell me if it is correct because i am not understanding that xy = -6 or 6.
yashbisht28: by taking xy =6. (3x+5y)^2=181+180=361. then 3x+5y = +-19

hey.

__________

solution:

given ,
9x^2 + 25y^2 = 181 ,&
x.y. = -6

since , (x+y)^2 = x^2 + y^2 + 2xy
therefore,on squaring the given,

(3x + 5y)^2 = 9x^2 + 25y^2 + 2 xy

ATQ---

= √181 + 2(-6)
= √181 - 12
= √169
= 13

hence, 3x + 5y is equals to 13
