Explanation:

1. equivalent resistance between 4 and 3 is

( 4x3) /7 = 12/7 ohm

2.equivalent resistance between 0.5 and 0.5 is

( 0.5 x 0.5 ) / 1 = 1/4 ohm

3. pd across PM = pd across PN + pd across NM

I¹ x 12/7 = I² x 1/4 + I² x 1

I¹ x 12/7 = I² ( 5/4)

I¹ / I² = 35 /48

I = I¹ + I²

pd across the terminal , V

I x R = I x ( 12/7 x 5/4) /(12/7 + 5/4)

= I x ( 15/7) /[ (48+ 35) /28]

= I x (60 /83)

As

I = I² ( I¹/I² +1) = I² ( 83/48)

thus

pd across MN is

I² x 1 = 48/83 I = 48 /83 x 83/60 V

= 24/30 V =8/10V = 4/5V
