Summary:

The author has given a brief account of his journey in Antarctica and encounter with different species of penguins. He talks of the dignity, humility and wisdom of the Emperor Penguin. He presents a slightly contrasting view, that of the Adelie penguins, who are reluctant to jump off a ledge owing to their fear of predators. The narrator continues on with a brief description of penguins and discusses their adaptations and lack of wings. He concludes the account with a humorous description telling how the Adelie penguins finally found out that there was no predator lurking in the sea!
