Answer:

1) When R is increased potential gradient decreases so length increases (shifts towards B)

2) At null point cell won't draw any current so changing S value won't affect anything.

3) Driving cell (Auxiliary Battery, P) is usually kept at higher value than Q, when P itself is lesser then Q there won't be any life to circuit and no balancing point!
