3. Depending where you are depends on what you should do if you are in a building crawl under a desk or table and put your hands on your head as extra protection. If you are outside avoid buildings.
4. To earthquakes are unpredictable the only way to be safe if to plan ahead. Large objects in building like bookcases, dressers, ect. need to be nailed down. For building damage itself you would need to make sure you have a strong building that was meant to withstand strong earthquakes.
5. I can not answer your last question I am not exactly sure what earthing is.
