An old person decided to donate most of the property and assets before his death to different orphanage for the well being of the children living there.his total property is represented by 2x4+3x3-4x2+ax+b and the no. of orphanages contacted is given by 2x2-3x+1.the left over amt. is 2x-5.Find the value of a and b.

From the calculation, the remainder = (a – 15/2)x + b – 3/2
We equate this remainder to 2x-5
(a – 15/2)x + (b – 3/2) = 2x – 5
Equating the coefficients:
(a – 15/2) = 2
a = 2 + 15/2 = 19/2
and
b – 3/2 = -5
b = -5 + 3/2 = -7/2
