Let the 2 consecutive numbers be x and x + 1.

Given that two consecutive numbers product if 506.

x( x + 1) = 506

x^2 + x = 506

x^2 + x - 506 = 0

x^2 + 23x - 22x - 506 = 0

x(x + 23) - 22(x + 23) = 0

(x + 23)(x - 22) = 0

x = -23, 22.

Therefore the two numbers are 22 and 23 (or) -22 and -23.

Hope this helps!

Let the no. Be X and X+1

Then according to question
X (X+1) = 506
X^2 + X = 506
X^2 +X -506 = 0
X^2 + 23X - 22X -506 = 0
X(x+23) -22(X+23)= 0
(X+23) ( X-22) = 0
X = -23 or 22

However x cannot be negative.
Therefore X = 22

So the no.s are
X= 22
& X+1 = 23
