Then he spent 3000 and found that he was left with (7/12) of his salary.

⇒ x = (1/4)x + 3000 + (7/12)x

⇒ x = (x/4) + 3000 +  (7x/12)

⇒ x = (5x/6) + 3000

⇒ 6x = 5x + 18000

⇒ x = 18000.

Therefore, his salary is 18000.

X/4+3000+7x/12 = x

10x+36000=12x
