Hey there!

According to law of conservation of linear momentum, Total momentum of the system is conserved.

Let the mass of ball be M = 10kg.
Velocity of the ball be V = 10m/s.

And,
Mass of the first piece be m1 = 6kg.
Velocity v1 = 18m/s.

Mass of second piece m2 = 10 - 6 = 4kg.
Velocity v2

Now applying law of conservation of linear momentum.

MV = m_{1}v_{1}+m_{2}v_{2} \:

10 ( 10) = 6 ( 18) + 4 (v_2) \\ \\ <br /><br />100 = 108 + 4v_{2} \\ \\ 100 - 108 = 4v_{2} \\ \\ v_{2} = \frac{ - 8}{4} = - 2
Therefore, The second piece will moves with Velocity 2m/s in the opposite direction.
