Explanation:

Here,   R_{2}, R_{3} are in parallel combination.

So, effective resistance of R_{2}, R_{3} =  \frac{R_{2}R_{3}}{R_{2}+R_{3}}

                                                       =  \frac{20*30}{20+30}  = 12 Ω.

Now, the combination  of R_{2}, R_{3} is in series with R_{1} .

Therefore, effective resistance,R_{eff} = 12 + R_{1}

                                                            = 12 + 38 = 50 Ω.

Applying ohm's law,

    V = IR

=> 25 = I(50)

=> I = 0.5 amperes.
