I am not sure but i think the answer is the distance covered by train because here the train takes 10secs to cross the tree completely ..this means that the distance covered by train in 10s at the rate of 50km/h would be the length of the train

solution :

distance =s

speed =v and time =t

s=v*t

=54km/h*10secs

={54*100÷(3600)}m/s * 10secs. (look units)

=1.5*10

=15m

Hence length of train is 15m

Given,

Speed of train = 54 km/hr

 =  \frac{540}{6}  \frac{m}{min} \\  = 90 \:  m \: {min}^{ - 1}

Time taken by the train to cross the tree = 10 seconds = 0.166 minutes

Distance traveled by the train in 0.166 min

 = 90 \times 0.166 \\  = 14.94 \: m

That is why, the length of the train in 14.94 m.

Hope it helps
