Since R1 and R2 connected in series and R3 and R4 also connected in series but these both pairs are in parallel with each other

1/Rp=1/R1+1/R2

1/Rp=1/4+1/4

1/Rp=2/4

Rp=2ohm

1/R=1/R3+1/R4

1/R =1/4+1/4

1/R=2/4

R=2ohm

Total resistance =Rp+R

=2+2=4ohm
