Step-by-step explanation:

Distance PA =

 \sqrt{(4 - 1) {}^{2} + (4 - 0) {}^{2}  }   \\  =  \sqrt{9 + 16}  \\  \sqrt{ 25}  = 5

Distance PB =

 \sqrt{(4 - ( - 1)) {}^{2}  + (4 - 4) {}^{2} }  \\  =  \sqrt{25 + 0}  = 5

As PA = PB, P is eqidistant from A and B

Here we used distance formula which is =

 \sqrt{(x1 - x2) {}^{2}   + (y1 - y2) {}^{2} }
