Given:-

  • 1 2/3 + 2 4/5

Solution with explanation:-

  • First, convert proper fraction to improper fraction.

  • 1 2/3 = 5/3 and 2 4/5 = 14/5

  • To add 2 fractions their denominators should be same.

  • Since, 3 and 5 are prime numbers and 1 as the common factor, Multiply 5 with the numerator and denominator of 5/3 and 3 with the numerator and denominator of 14/5.

  • 5/3 x 5/5 = 25/15 and 14/5 x 3/3 = 42/15

  • Add them.

  • 25/15 + 42/15 = 67/15

  • Convert it into mixed fraction and write the answer.

  • 67/15 = 4 7/15.

Conclusion:-

  • Therefore, 1 2/3 + 2 4/5 = 4 7/15.
