so

[(x^2+1)(x^2-1)]/(x-1). =. [( x-k) (x^2+k^2+xk)]/[(x+k)(x-k)

[(x^2+1)(x+1)(x-1)]/(x-1) = (x^2+k^2+xk)/(x+k)

(x^2+1)(x+1) = (x^2+k^2+xk)/(x+k)

putting x = 1 in LHS and x= k in RHS
