The main causes of depletion of flora and fauna are:-
a)Global warming
b)Use of natural products by man as their resources for living such as wood,leaves.
c)deforestation for agricultural purposes and mining.

Steps taken by government are as follows :-
a)India has 490 wildlife sanctuaries and zoological gardens and 89 botanical gardens to protect their flora and fauna.
b)14 biospheres have been setup.
c)Many awareness programmes have been launched by the government.
