(i)

When iron (II) sulphide reacts with dil. hydrochloric acid, a gas (hydrogen sulphide) is formed which has a smell of rotten eggs.

FeS (s) + dil 2HCl (aq) H2S (g) + FeCl2 (s)

(ii)

As sodium is a very reactive element, thus when a piece of sodium is kept in water, high amount of heat is generated (an exothermic reaction). Hence, we store solid sodium in kerosene to avoid exposure with air.
