three capacitors each of capacitance C microfarad are connected in series

1st set Equivalent capacitance C₁  

1/C₁ =  1/C  + 1/C   + 1/C

=> 1/ C₁ = 3/C

=> C₁ = C/3

An exactly similar set  =

2ns set   Equivalent capacitance C₂ =   C/3

C₁ and  C₂ connected in parallel

C eff=  C₁  + C₂

=> C eff=  C/3  + C/3

=>  C eff =  2C/3

The effective capacity of combination becomes 8 μF

2C/3  = 8

=> C = 12

The value of C in microfarad is   12
