Hey there,   
Let's say the cars are moving along X axis.

Velocity of car A is  v_a = 80 km/h

Velocity of car B is  v_b = 50 km/h
1) Relative velocity of A w.r.t B is given as   v_a - v_b = 80 - 50 = 30 km/hr along positive X axis.

2) Relative velocity of B w.r.t A is given as  v_b - v_a = 50 - 80 = -30 km/hr

The negative sign indicates direction of this is along negative X axis.
