Answer :

Moving bus is moving with a particular velocity . The part of our body not in contact with the bust has an inertia and it tends to remain in that state of motion of the bus . Now when the bus stops suddenly when the driver applies brakes , the portion of the body which was in contact with the bus will stop but the portion of the body which was not in contact with the bus will remain in state of motion due to inertia and hence we fall in the forward direction .

NOTE :

Inertia is the tendency of body to remain in state of rest or of uniform motion forever unless acted upon by an external force.

The passengers in a bus tend to fall backward when it starts suddenly due to inertia as the passengers tend to remain in the state of rest while the bus starts to move. When the bus stops suddenly, people fall forward because their inertia as they are in state of motion even when the bus has come to rest.
