Horizontal Power Sharing: The power is shared among different organs of a government. In India the system is formed by the executive, legislature and judiciary. In this system each organ check each other so it is called a system of check and balances. If the legislature is not providing the country with the correct law then the judiciary see into the matter and decide whether it is correct or wrong then the executive execute the law.

Vertical Power Sharing: Here the power is shared among different levels of the government. In India we have the central government at the central level, for the state level we have state government and at the village level we local self government. This type of division is Federal Government. The power is shared among all three divisions but the power is divided and it is not a system of check and balances. All the levels have different powers and functions.

Hope this helps you mate!
