In ∆ DEM & ∆DFM

angle EDM = angle MDF ( given)

DM = DM ( common)

angle DME = DMF (90°)

=> ∆ DEM is congruent to ∆ DFM (ASA congruency criteria)

Therefore, DE = DF (CPCT)

Since, two sides of ∆ DEF is equal, it is an isosceles triangle.

8.

angle B = angle E

48 ° = 2z + 18°

30° = 2z

15° = z

Angle F = Angle C

42° = x/2

42° × 2 = x

84° = x

In ∆ ABC,

angle A + angle B + angle C = 180°

(y + 40°) + 48° + 42° = 180°

130° + y = 180°

y = 180° - 130°

y = 50°

Hope it helps.
