Question 1

Find the missing term in the proportion

 \rm \: x: 8: : 12 : 32 \\ \\ \implies \rm \: \frac{x}{8} = \frac{12}{32} \: \: \: \: \: \: \\ \\ \implies \rm \: x = \frac{12 \times 8}{32} \\ \\ \implies \rm \underline{ \boxed{ \bf \: x = 3}} \: \: \: \: \:

Question 2

Income of Rahim is Rs 12000 per month and that of Ami is Rs 191520 per annum. If the monthly expenditure of each of them is Rs 9960 per month find the ratio of their saving?

We have income of both and expenditure are given so we have to find savings first

Saving of Rahim=Income of Rahim-expenditure of Rahim

Saving of rahim=12000-9960

Saving of rahim=Rs. 2040

Saving of Ami=191520-9960

Saving of Ami=Rs. 181560

Ratio of their savings is

 \rm ratio \: of \: their \: saving = \dfrac{2040}{181560} \\ \\ \implies \rm \: ratio = 1: 89

Question 3

20 tons of iron costs Rs 600000. Find the cost of 560kg of iron.

We have cost of 20 tons of iron

Therefore using unitary method

 \rm \: cost \: of \: 1ton \: iron = \dfrac{60000}{20} = 3000 \\ \\ \implies \rm \: cost \: of \: 560 \: ton \: of \: iron = 3000 \times 560 = 1680000

Question 4

The cost of notebook is Rs20 and the cost of pen is Rs15.What is the ratio between cost of notebook and pen

We have the cost of notebook and pen therefore it is easy to find ratio

  \rm \: ratio \: between \: cost \: of \: notebook \: and \: pen \\ \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \ \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: = \frac{20}{15} = \frac{4}{3} \\ \\ \bf \: ratio = 4 : 3

Question 5

Find the ratio of 3kg to 750g

First we change kg into gram

i.e. 3000g

 \rm \: ratio = \dfrac{3000}{750} \\ \\ \implies \rm ratio = 4 : 1

Question 6

Find the ratio of 50 cm to 3m

3m=300cm

 \rm \: ratio = \dfrac{50}{300} \\ \\ \implies \bf ratio = 1 :6
